Ashok Gulati
Ashok Gulati is an Indian agricultural economist and a former chairman of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), the advisory body of the Government of India on food supplies and pricing policies. Gulati was instrumental in the hiking the minimum support price of several food grains. He is the chair professor of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations.
Gulati is an alumnus of the Delhi School of Economics, where he earned a master of arts in economics and a doctorate of philosophy in agricultural policy.〔〔 He is a former Director in Asia and Director of Markets, Trade and Institutions Division of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), an international agricultural research institution headquartered in Washington, D.C.〔〔 He previously was the chief economist at the National Council of Applied Economic Research, and he held the chair professorship of the Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi. He has also been a member of the Economic Advisory Council, which is associated with the office of the Prime Minister of India and the Planning Board of Karnataka.〔
He was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.
